Hatchet

Hatchets are often described as a small ax that can be used with one hand rather than two. With a handle that is often half the length of a standard ax handle, the hatchet is a tool that can be used for a number of smaller jobs, such as cutting through thick shrubs or small limbs. As well as use in woodcutting, the hatchet can been used for other tasks around the home, as well as a weapon. In the novel, Tom Robinson used a hatchet to 'bust up' Mayella's chiffarobe.
